TBS championship tournament 2021-2022

2021-10-23 to 2022-01-05

A tournament was set up to crown the inaugural TBS champion, with the finals taking place on the first TBS broadcast of AEW Dynamite.

First round:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2021-10-23: Ruby Soho def. Penelope Ford [w/The Bunny]
    Ford reaches for her brass knucks, but the referee pushes them out of the ring. Soho uses the confusion to roll up Ford for the pinfall.
  2. AEW Dynamite 2021-10-27: Hikaru Shida def. Serena Deeb
    Deeb goes for the Deebtox, but Shida breaks loose but Deeb rolls her up. Shida quickly reverses the roll-up to get the pinfall victory.
  3. AEW Dynamite 2021-11-03: Jamie Hayter [w/Britt Baker & Rebel] def. Anna Jay
    Jay locks Hayter in a sleeper hold, but Rebel and Baker distracts her allowing Hayter to hit the short arm lariat to get the pinfall.
  4. AEW Rampage 2021-11-05: Red Velvet def. The Bunny
    Velvet pins Bunny after the Final Slice.

Second round:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2021-11-17: Nyla Rose [w/Vickie Guerrero] def. Hikaru Shida (subm.)
    Shida taps out to Rose's standing stretch.
  2. AEW Rampage 2021-11-19: Jade Cargill [w/Smart Mark Sterling] def. Red Velvet
    Cargill gets the pinfall after the Jaded.
  3. AEW Dynamite 2021-11-24: Thunder Rosa def. Jamie Hayter [w/Britt Baker & Rebel]
    Baker and Rebel run in, but Rosa takes them both out and then hits Hayter with the casadora for the pinfall victory.
  4. AEW Dynamite 2021-12-01: Ruby Soho def. Kris Statlander
    Statlander sets up Soho for the Big Bang Theory, but Soho reverses into a roll-up to get the pinfall victory.

Semi-finals:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2021-12-22: Ruby Soho def. Nyla Rose [w/Vickie Guerrero]
    Soho locks Rose in the standing Dragon Sleeper, but Guerrero interferes, allowing Rose to break the hold. Rose goes for the ring ropes, but Soho drags her down into her boot to get the pinfall victory.
  2. AEW Dynamite 2021-12-29: Jade Cargill [w/Smart Mark Sterling] def. Thunder Rosa
    Rosa tries to lock Cargill in a Figure Four when Cargill reverses it. With the referee distracted, a hooded figure attacks Rosa, allowing Jade to hit Rosa with the Jaded to get the pinfall victory. The hooded figure later unmasked as Mercedes Martinez.

Final:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-01-05: Jade Cargill def. Ruby Soho
    Soho runs Cargill into the corner and sets her up on the turnbuckle, but Cargill hits back. Soho goes for the arm drag, but Cargill reverses into an avalanche Jaded, getting the pinfall victory to become the inaugural TBS champion.

  1. Interim TNT championship:
    "Spanish God" Sammy Guevara def. "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes [w/Arn Anderson]
    Cody Rhodes was unable to defend the TNT championship due to medical issues, so the match was to crown an interim champion. Rhodes hits the Cross Rhodes on Guevara, but Guevara kicks out. Fuego Del Sol emerges from under the ring, and sets up a table. Guevara hits a Canadian Destroyer on Rhodes through the table. Back in the ring, the two trade roll-ups until Guevara gets the pinfall.
  2. FTW championship:
    Ricky Starks (ch) [w/Powerhouse Hobbs] def. Matt Sydal
    Starks hits the Roshambo on Sydal, getting the pinfall to retain the FTW championship. After the match, Starks and Hobbs attack Sydal. Lee Moriarty and Dante Martin comes out to help Sydal.
  3. AEW Women's championship:
    Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (ch) [w/Rebel & Jamie Hayter] def. Riho
    Baker and Hayter try to set up a table at ringside, but Riho manages to hit a dropkick on Hayter before they are done, taking her out. Baker and Hayter do not seem to get along, giving an advantage to Riho. Riho locks Baker in a single-leg Boston crab, but Baker reaches the ring ropes. Riho goes to the top rope, but Rebel pull Baker away and shields her with own body. Riho hits Rebel with the double foot stomp. Riho hits the Northern Lights Suplex, but only gets a two-count. Baker stomps Riho and applies the lock jaw to get the submission victory.

Revolution

2022-03-06, Addition Arena, Orlando, Florida, USA

  1. Eddie Kingston def. Chris Jericho (subm.)
    Kingston hits the half and half suplex right out of the gates, driving Jericho's head into the canvas. Jericho hits Kingston with the lionsault, and then twice with the codebreaker and sets up Kingston for the Judas effect, but misses. Kingston reverses and locks Jericho in a stretch, forcing Jericho to submit.
  2. AEW tagteam championship, Three-Way match:
    Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (ch) def. Young Bucks (Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson) [w/Brandon Cutler], ReDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish)
    Bucks and ReDRagon work together trying to eliminate the champions, but as the Bucks roll up the Jungle Boy for a pinfall, ReDRagon breaks the pin, seemingly causing a split between the two teams. The champions hit the Doomsday Device on Matt Jackson, but only get a two-count. ReDRagon and the Bucks start fighting between themselves. With the referee distracted O'Reilly hits Jungle Boy with the championship belt, but O'Reilly also only gets a two-count, Bucks hit the BTE trigger on Jungle Boy, but O'Reilly breaks the pin. The champions hit the Jurassic Express on Matt Jackson to finally manage to get the three-count to retain the championships.
  3. Face of the Revolution Ladder Match:
    Wardlow def. Christian Cage, Powerhouse Hobbs, Ricky Starks (FTW ch), Keith Lee, Orange Cassidy
    The first to climb the ladder and grab the brass ring hanging above wins a TNT championship match. With two ladders set up in the ring, all six men are climbing up, but eventually Wardlow and Hobbs are the two remaining. They start fighting and both fall off. The match spills out of the ring, with Wardlow pushing Lee and Hobbs down onto the concrete floor. Back in the ring Starks climbs the ladder, but Wardlow powerbombs him down, allowing Wardlow to grab the ring.
  4. TBS championship:
    Jade Cargill (ch) [w/Smart Mark Sterling] def. Tay Conti [w/Anna Jay]
    Conti climbs the ring corner, but Cargill attacks her, running Conti's head into the corner camera. Cargill hits the Jaded to get the pinfall victory.
  5. Dog Collar match:
    CM Punk def. MJF
    MJF rakes the chain in Punk's face, opening a wound causing a lot of blood loss. MJF locks a sleeper hold around Punk's neck with the chain underneath, but Punk gets back to his feet. MJF empties a bag of thumbtacks into the ring, and superplexes Punk into them. MJF calls for Wardlow to come to the ring and hand him his Dynamite Diamond ring, but Wardlow seemingly cannot find it. Punk uses the distraction to hit the GTS on MJF. Wardlow then "finds" the ring, handing it to Punk. Punk uses it and pins MJF.
  6. AEW Women's championship:
    Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (ch) [w/Rebel & Jamie Hayter] def. Thunder Rosa
    Rosa hits a tombstone piledriver on Baker, but the referee is distracted by Rebel at the ring apron, so Baker can break out from the count. Hayter throws the championship belt into the ring and Baker stomps Rosa into it, but Rosa kicks out of the pinfall attempt. Rosa locks Baker in a submission hold and Baker taps out, but Rebel again distracts the referee. Rose takes out Baker's entourage, but is Baker hits her with a curb stomp when she returns to the ring, getting the pinfall victory.
  7. Jon Moxley def. Bryan Danielson
    Danielson locks the triangle sleeper on Moxley, but Moxley rolls over pinning Danielson's shoulders to the mat, giving Moxley the pinfall victory. The two keeps fighting after the bell rings until William Regal arrives, slapping some sense into the two.
  8. Tornado six-man tagteam match:
    Sammy Guevara (TNT ch) & Darby Allin & Sting def. Andrade-Hardy Family Office (Matt Hardy & Andrade El Ídolo & Isiah Kassidy)
    Allin performs the coffin drop on Hardy to get the pinfall victory.
  9. AEW World championship:
    "Hangman" Adam Page (ch) def. Adam Cole
    Page hits the Dead-Eye on a table set up outside the ring by Cole's ReDRagon friends. Dark Order comes to the ring to the aid of Page. Page hits the buckshot lariat on Cole, but Cole puts his hand on the bottom rope to break the count, but Page hits a second buckshot lariat to get the pinfall victory to retain the championship.

Battle of the Belts II

  1. Interim TNT championship:
    "Spanish God" Sammy Guevara [w/Tay Conti] def. Scorpio Sky (ch) [w/Dan Lambert]
    Sky hits three backbreakers on Guevara, but Guevara counters the fourth attempt. Guevara hits the Spanish fly but is unable to get a three-count. Ethan Page arrives ringside but Guevara takes out both him and Sky with a moonsault from the top rope. Sky's associates keep fighting outside the ring, distracting the referee enough for Guevara to be able to hit a low blow on Sky. Guevara then hits the GTH to get the pinfall.
  2. Ring of Honor world championship:
    Jonathan Gresham (ch) def. Dalton Castle [w/The Boys] (subm.)
    This highly technical match went back and forth between the two competitors. Castle shows his ring awareness and agility by countering many of Gresham's moves. Gresham locks in the octopus on Castle, forcing Castle to tap out.
  3. AEW Women's championship:
    Thunder Rosa (ch) def. Nyla Rose
    This was a match of strength vs. technique. Rosa hits a torneo from the top rope to the outside of the ring. Rosa follows up with a diving crossbody, but Rose reverses it by just picking Rosa up. Rosa hits the Code Red on Rose, but only gets a two-count. Rose his a powerbomb, but is also only able to get a two-count. Rosa hits a hurricanrana, rolls up Rose and gets the pinfall victory to retain the championship.

Owen Hart Foundation Tournament

2022-05-11 to 2022-05-29

Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament first round matches:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-11: Adam Cole def. Dax Harwood (subm.)
    Cole applies a sharpshooter to get the submission victory.
  2. Jeff Hardy [w/Matt Hardy] vs. Darby Allin
    Allin hits a coffin drop on Hardy, but Hardy reverses to get the pinfall.
  3. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-18: Samoa Joe def. Johnny Elite
    Joe was Ring of Honor television champion at the same time. Elite entered as an unannounced joker in the tournament, but was defeated when Joe hit a Samoan Drop to get the pinfall victory.
  4. Kyle O'Reilly def. Rey Fénix [w/Alex Abrahantes]
    Fénix goes for a cutter, but O'Reilly counters and locks Fénix' left arm in a leg capture to get the submission victory.

Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament semi-final matches:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-18: Adam Cole def. Jeff Hardy
    Hardy goes for a Swanton bomb, but Cole moves out of the way. Cole hits a running knee to get the pinfall victory.
  2. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-25: Samoa Joe def. Kyle O'Reilly
    Joe locks a rear-naked sleeper hold on O'Reilly, who tries to counter with an armlock. The referee awards Joe the victory as O'Reilly passes out.

Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament first round matches:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-11: Toni Storm def. Jamie Hayter
    Storm hits the Storm Zero piledriver on Hayter to get the pinfall.
  2. AEW Rampage 2022-05-13: Ruby Soho def. Riho
    Soho pins Riho after the Blade Runner.
  3. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-18: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. def. Maki Itoh (subm.)
    Baker's former tagteam partner Itoh entered as an unannounced joker. Baker locks Itoh in the lockjaw, to get the submission victory.
  4. AEW Rampage 2022-05-20: Kris Statlander def. Red Velvet [w/Jade Cargill (TBS ch), Kiera Hogan & Mark Sterling]
    Statlander hits a lariat. She sets up a piledriver, but Velvet reverses, almost two-count. Statlander counters the counter, getting the pinfall.

Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament semi-final matches:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-05-25: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. def. Toni Storm
    Jamie Hayter comes ringside, distracting Storm. Baker only manages to get a two-count, however. Baker goes for the superkick, but is blocked by Storm. Baker manages to get a pinfall while holding the ring ropes for leverage.
  2. AEW Rampage 2022-05-27: Ruby Soho def. Kris Statlander
    Statlander goes for the spider crab, but Soho kicks out. After tripping Statlander, she rolls her up for the pinfall.

    Cargill's entourage Kiera Hogan and Red Velvet come ringside trying to attack Jay, but Jay hits a double DDT on them. Cargill's manager "Smart" Mark Sterling comes ringside, trying to hand Cargill his crutches, but Jay uses its instead. Jay locks Cargill in the Queenslayer, but Cargill manages to kick out. Cargill hits the Jaded from the top rope to get the pinfall.
  4. The House of Black (Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews & Brody King) def. Death Triangle (Pac & Penta Oscuro & Rey Fénix) [w/Alex Abrahantes]
    Pac goes for the Black Arrow on Malakai Black, when the lights go out and Julia Hart appears, hitting Pac with the black mist. Black gets the pinfall on Pac after a back-heel kick.
  5. Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament final match:
    Adam Cole def. Samoa Joe
    Bobby Fish comes to the ring, attacking Joe. Cole pins Joe after a knee to the back of the head, to win the tournament.
  6. Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament final match:
    Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. def. Ruby Soho
    Soho rolls up Baker to get the pinfall, but Baker reverses into a roll-up on her own, getting the victory.
  7. Mixed trios match:
    Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky (TNT ch) & Ethan Page) & Paige VanZant [w/Dan Lambert] def. Sammy Guevara & Frankie Kazarian & and Tay Conti
    Stipulation: If Guevara's team loses, Guevara and Kazarian cannot challenge for the TNT championship as long as Sky is champion. Guevara and Kazarian have their issues, allowing their opponents to get the advantage. Sky hits the TKO on Kazarian to get the pinfall victory.
  8. Kyle O'Reilly def. Darby Allin
    O'Reilly pins Allin after a diving knee drop from the top rope.
  9. AEW Women's championship:
    Thunder Rosa (ch) def. Serena Deeb
    Rosa pins Deeb after the Fire Thunder Driver.
  10. Anarchy in the Arena match:
    The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho & Matt Menard & Angelo Parker & Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager) def. Eddie Kingston & Santana & Ortiz & and The Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley) (subm.)
    This "match" took place everywhere at the arena at once, but needed a decision in the ring. The match is called off when Jericho locks the single-leg crab on Danielson, assisted by Hager.
  11. AEW tagteam championship, Three-Way match:
    Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (ch) [w/Christian] def. Team Taz (Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs), Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland
    Strickland goes for the Swerve stomp on Jungle Boy, but Jungle Boy moves out. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy double-teams Strickland, allowing Jungle Boy to get the pinfall victory to retain the championships.
  12. AEW World championship:
    CM Punk def. "Hangman" Adam Page (ch)
    Page hits the GTS on Punk, but is only able to get the two-count. Punk picks up Page and inadvertently takes out the referee when doing an airplane spin. Page sees the referee being knocked out and goes to grab the championship belt, but eventually decides against using it. Page goes for the buckshot lariat, but Punk counters into the GTS to get the pinfall victory and win the championship.

AEW×NJPW: Forbidden Door

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-06-08: Pac (United Kingdom) def. Buddy Matthews (Australia)
    Pac hits the poison rana on Matthews and follows it up with the black arrow, to get the pinfall victory.
  2. AEW Dynamite 2022-06-15: Miro (Bulgaria) def. Ethan Page (Canada) [w/Dan Lambert] (subm.)
    Miro lands a superkick on Page and goes for the Game Over to get the submission victory.
  3. NJPW New Japan Road 2022-06-21: Tomohiro Ishii (石井 智宏) def. Clark Connors
  4. AEW Dynamite 2022-06-22: Penta Oscuro (Mexico) def. Malakai Black (Netherlands)
    Black pins Oscuro after a back heel kick.

Matches on the main event:

  1. Le Sex Gods ("The Wizard" Chris Jericho &aamp; Sammy Guevara) & Minoru Suzuki [w/Tay Conti] def. Eddie Kingston & Wheeler Yuta (ROH Pure ch) & Shota Umino
    Stipulation: The winning team gets the advantage at the upcoming Blood and Guts event. Jericho pins Suzuki after the Judas Effect.
  2. IWGP heavyweight tagteam championship and ROH tagteam championship, winner takes all:
    FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (ROH ch) def. Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero), United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb) (IWGP ch)
    FTR's AAA tagteam championships were not on the line. Harwood is injured early in the match, leaving Wheeler to fight for his own until Harwood made his return, all taped up. Harwood pins Romero to win the championship, to retain their ROH championships and win the IWGP championships.
  3. AEW All-Atlantic championship, four-way match:
    Pac def. Clark Connors, Miro, Malakai Black (subm.)
    Connors replaced NJPW representative Tomohiro Ishii who was injured. Moiro sets up Pac for the Cobra Clutch when Black comes in, blowing the mist in Miros' face. Pac hits a 450 splash on Black, then locks the Brutalizer on Connors to get the submission victory.
  4. Bullet Club (El Phantasmo & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) AEW tag ch)) [w/Hikuleo] def. Dudes with Attitudes (Darby Allin & Sting & Shingo Takagi)
    Sting's music plays, but no Sting comes out to the ring. He instead makes a surprise entrance as the opposing team enters, taking them out. Takagi pins Phantasmo for the victory.
  5. AEW Women's championship:
    Thunder Rosa (ch) def. Toni Storm
    Rosa pins Storm after modified German suplex.
  6. IWGP US championship:
    Will Ospreay (ch) [w/Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher)] def. Orange Cassidy
    Ospreay hits the stormbreaker for the pinfall.
  7. Claudio Castagnoli def. Zack Sabre Jr.
    Sabre was originally scheduled to meet Bryan Danielson, but due to injury Danielson selected Claudio Castagnoli as a surprise opponent. Castagnoli pins Sabre after a jackknife powerbomb.
  8. IWGP World Heavyweight championship, four-way match: "Switchblade" Jay White (ch) [w/Gedo] def. "Hangman" Adam Page, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Adam Cole
    Okada downs Page with a knee to the stomach, but White comes in and takes out Okada with the bladerunner. White rolls up Page to get the pinfall victory to retain the championship.
  9. Interim AEW championship: Jon Moxley def. Hiroshi Tanahashi
    CM Punk was unable to defend the AEW championship due to injury, so the match was to crown an interim champion. Moxley hits the Death Rider to get the pinfall victory and become the interim champion.

Battle of the Belts III

  1. TNT championship:
    Jay Lethal [w/Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh] Wardlow (ch)
    Wardlow pins Lethal after a massive headbutt and lariat, followed by a pedigree.
  2. AEW Women's championship:
    Thunder Rosa (ch) [w/Toni Storm] Jamie Hayter [w/Britt Baker & Rebel]
    Hayter runs Rosa into the corner. With the referee distracted, Baker interferes but is taken out by Storm. Rosa rolls up Hayter with the casadora to get the pinfall and retain the championship.
  3. ROH championship:
    Claudio Castagnoli (ch) def. Konosuke Takeshita
    Castagnoli hits the Death Valley Driver on Takeshita. He later hits the Ricola bomb to get the pinfall victory.

Trios tagteam championship tournament 2022

2022-08-17 to 2022-09-04

A tournament was set up to crown the inaugural trios tagteam champions, with the finals taking place on All Out.

First round:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-08-17: The Elite (Kenny Omega & Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) [w/Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa] def. La Facción Ingobernable (Andrade El Ídolo & Dragon Lee & Rush) [w/José the assistant]
    Omega hits the V-Trigger on Dragon Lee, followed by the One-Winged Angel, to get the pinfall victory.
  2. AEW Rampage 2022-08-19: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta) def. Trustbusters (Ari Daivari & Parker Boudreaux & Slim J) [w/Sonny Kiss]
    Danhausen shows up in the audience, and puts his "curse" on Slim J, confusing him enough for Best Friends to set up a splash, allowing Cassidy to get the pinfall victory.
  3. AEW Dynamite 2022-08-24: United Empire (Will Ospreay & Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)) def. Death Triangle (Pac & Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fénix)
    Will Ospreay was IWGP US champion and Aussie Open wer IWGP Strong Openweight tagteam champions at the time. Kip Sabian runs in, taking out Pac. Davis hits Fénix with a lariat, and then United Empire hits the Auscutter on Fénix, allowing Ospreay to get the pinfall victory.
  4. AEW Rampage 2022-08-26: Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver & Preston "10" Vance) def. House of Black (Malakai Black & Brody King & Buddy Matthews)
    Miro comes to the ring, taking out King and Black, allowing Reynolds to surprise roll up Matthews for the pinfall.

Semi-finals:

    United Empire hits the Aus cutter on both Matt and Nick Jackson, but only get a two-count. The Elite hits the Superkick party on Fletcher, allowing Omega to eventually hit the V-Trigger and the One-Winged Angel for the pinfall.
  2. AEW Rampage 2022-09-02: Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver & Hangman Adam Page) def. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta) [/w Danhausen]
    Hangman Adam Page replaced the injured "Ten" Preston Vance. Taylor runs Page out over the top rope, but is surprised by a roll up from Silver, who gets the pinfall.

    "Joker" def. Wheeler Yuta (ROH pure champion), Rey Fénix [w/Alex Abrahantes], Rush, Andrade El Idolo [w/José the Assistant], Claudio Castagnoli (ROH champion), Dante Martin, Penta El Zero Miedo
    Yuta and Fénix start out. The match can end at any time when someone manages to grab the poker chip above the ring, and Yuta almost makes it before Rush even gets to the ring. After Penta joined the match, Martin climbed the ladder when several masked men entered the ring, taking out the competitors. One of the masked men climbed the match, grabbing the poker chip, unmasking as Stokely. Then the Joker entered the ring, and was handed the chip by Stokely, to be announced the winner without being unmasked.
  2. Trios championship tournament final:
    The Elite (Kenny Omega & Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) [w/Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa] def. Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver & Hangman Adam Page)
    Silver picks Omega up for a back body drop, when Page runs in for the buckshot lariat. Omega ducks out of the way, causing Page to take out Silver instead, allowing Omega to get the pinfall on Silver.
  3. TBS championship:
    Jade Cargill (ch) [w/Kiera Hogan & Leila Grey] def. Athena
    Athena goes for an immediate pin, almost getting the victory before being attacked by Cargill's entourage. Athena goes for bodyslam off the ring ropes, but Cargill intercepts with a superkick. Cargill hits the Jaded to get the pinfall victory.
  4. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (IWGP, AAA and ROH tag ch) & Wardlow (TNT ch) def. Jay Lethal & The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) [w/Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt]
    Wardlow pins Lethal after a powerbomb symphony.

    Pinfall after a spinebuster.
  6. AEW tagteam championship:
    Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland) (ch) def. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) [w/Billy Gunn]
    Caster picks up Lee for a bodyslam, and then performs the Mike drop on Strickland, allowing Bowens to go for a pinfall, but Lee makes the save for a two-count. Lee picks up Bowens, and gets the pinfall after a double-team move.
  7. Interim Women's championship:
    Toni Storm def. Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.
    Women's champion Thunder Rosa was unable to defend her championship due to injury, so this match was set up to crown an interim champion. Shida was Wave Single champion at the time. Storm performs a DDT first on Baker and then on Hayter, pinning Hayter to win the championship.
  8. Christian Cage def. "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry
    Luchasaurus comes out from the opposite tunnel, attacking Perry before the match, slamming him into the steel ramp. Perry starts the match anyway, but Cage hits a spear and a kill switch to get the pinfall victory.
  9. "Lionheart" Chris Jericho def. "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson
    Jericho runs Danielson into the corner, blocking the referee's view as he hits a low blow. Danielson follows up with the Judas Effect to get the pinfall victory.
  10. Darby Allin & Miro & Sting def. House Of Black (Brody King & Buddy Matthews & Malakai Black) [w/Julia Hart]
    Black goes for a punch on Sting when Sting blows mist in Black's eyes, temporarily blinding him. Allin rolls up Black in the last supper to get the pinfall victory.
  11. AEW World championship:
    CM Punk def. Jon Moxley (ch) [w/William Regal]
    After a long and grueling fight, Punk hits the GTS on Moxley twice to get the pinfall victory. After the match, MJF reveals himself as being the Joker that won the Casino Ladder Match, receiving a title match.

AEW grand slam championship tournament 2022

2021-09-07 to 2022-09-21

The AEW World championship was vacated due to an altercation after All Out, and a tournament was set up to crown a new champion.

Wildcard matches:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-09-07: "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson def. "Hangman" Adam Page
    Page goes for the buckshot lariat, but Danielson has him scouted and avoids the lariat and instead rolls up Page with an Okana roll for the pinfall.
  2. AEW Rampage 2022-09-09: Sammy Guevara [w/Tay Melo] def. Darby Allin
    Allin goes for the coffin drop, but with the referee distracted by Anna Jay, Melo holds him long enough for Guevara to drop Allin on top of his skateboard. Guevara hits the GTH to get the pinfall victory.

Semi-finals:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-09-14: Jon Moxley def. Sammy Guevara
    Moxley drops Guevara from the top rope in an avalanche German suplex when Tay Melo and Anna Jay come ringside. Jay distracts the referee when Melo delivers a low blow to Moxley. Guevara rolls up Moxley but only gets a two-count. Guevara picks up Moxley, trying for a GTH, but Moxley counters to get the pinfall.
  2. "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson def. Chris Jericho
    Danielson locks Jericho in the LeBell, forcing Jericho to tap out.

    Pac comes off a trios championship defense on AEW Rampage, while Beretta comes in fresh. Pac goes for the Black Arrow, but Beretta gets his knees up. Pac comes back, locking Beretta in the Brutalizer. Beretta gets his foot on the rope to break the lock. While the referee checks on Beretta, Pac grabs a hammer, knocking out Beretta to get the pinfall.
  2. TBS championship:
    Jade Cargill (ch) [w/Kiera Hogan & Leila Grey] def. Willow Nightingale
    Nightingale goes for the Doctor Bomb, but Cargill reverses into a bodyslam. Jade hits the Jaded to get the pinfall victory.
  3. Ring of Honor tagteam championship:
    FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (ch) def. Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) [w/Prince Nana]
    FTR were also IWGP and AAA tagteam champions at the time. FTR hits the Big Rig to take out Liona. Harwood sets up Kaun for the pinfall, but Prince Nana distracts the referee. After taking out Nana, Harwood grabs Kaun and gets the pinfall after a backslide.

AEW world title eliminator tournament 2022

2022-11-10 to 2022-11-23

The winner of the tournament gets a title shot.

First round:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-11-09: "All Ego" Ethan Page [w/Stokely Hathaway] def. Eddie Kingston
    Kingston hits the Exploder on Page and locks him in the Stretch Plum. Page taps out, but the Hathaway distracts the referee. Page hits a round-house kick, and sets up Kingston for the Avalanche Eagle Edge from the top rope to get the pinfall victory.
  2. AEW Rampage 2022-11-11: Brian Cage def. Dante Martin
    Martin misses the 450 splash and is hit with a discus lariat, but Cage only gets a two-count. Cage picks up Martin and hits the Weapon X, to get the pinfall victory.
  3. Bandido def. Rush [w/José the assistant]
    Rush attacks Bandido before the match, but the match is eventually started. José throws Rush a steel chair, and while the referee talks to him, José tries to rip the mask off Bandido. John Silver comes in and attacks José and distracting Rush long enough for Bandido to roll up Rush to get the pinfall.
  4. AEW Rampage 2022-11-18: Ricky Starks def. Lance Archer
    The fight starts backstage when Archer attacks Starks for the second time, the first time was the previous week, which is why the match was postponed to this week. The opponents move towards the ring, where the match starts. Starks eventually hits a spear to get the pinfall.

Semi-finals:

  1. AEW Dynamite 2022-11-16: "All Ego" Ethan Page [w/Stokely Hathaway] def. Bandido
    Bandido goes for the 21-plex on Page, but Page block and counters into a cutter. Page covers Bandido, but only gets a two-count. Page goes for the avalanche Ego's Edge, but Bandido counters. Bandido hits a frog splash for a two-count. Page hits Ego's Edge to get the pinfall.
  2. Full Gear Zero-Hour: Ricky Starks def. "The Machine" Brian Cage [w/Price Nana]
    Starks hits the Destroyer twice on Brian Cage, to get the pinfall victory.

Final:

The final was initially scheduled for Full Gear, but was moved to the following episode of Dynamite.

    "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry def. Luchasaurus [w/Christian Cage]
    Luchasaurus grinds Perry's head into the cage wall, causing him to bleed profusely. Christian Cage steals the keys from the outside referee. Cage opens the door and is removed from the match, but the match spills outside. Tables and chairs are brought in to the ring. Perry puts Luchasaurus on a table and knocks him out with a steel chair, and then hits an elbow drop from the top of cage. He locks the snaretrap to get the submission victory.
  2. Trios championship:
    Death Triangle (Pac & Penta Oscuro & Rey Fénix) [w/Alex Abrahantes] def. The Elite (Kenny Omega & Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) [w/Don Callis & Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa]
    The match turn into a regular superkick party between Young Bucks and Lucha Bros. Death Triangle hits a triple tombstone on the Elite, which Pac follows up with the Black Arrow on Omega. Omega goes for the One-Winged Angel, but Fénix knocks Omega out using a hammer, to get the pinfall victory.
  3. TBS championship:
    Jade Cargill (ch) [w/Kiera Hogan & Leila Grey] (ch) def. Nyla Rose [w/Marina Shafir & Vickie Guerrero]
    Rose was in the possession of the championship belt, but Cargill was the actual champion. Jade goes for the Jaded, but Rose reverses and hits a Jaded on her own, but only gets a two-count. Cargill does hit her own Jaded on Rose, to get the pinfall victory to retain the championship.
  4. Ring of Honor championship, four-way match:
    Chris Jericho (ch) def. Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson, "Spanish God" Sammy Guevara
    The match started out with Blackpool Combat Club (Danielson & Castagnoli) combating Jericho Appreciation Society (Jericho & Guevara), but that quickly falls apart. Jericho has Danielson in Walls of Jericho when Castagnoli comes in, hitting him with multiple big boots. Castagnoli locks the Sharpshooter on Jericho while Danielson locks the LeBell lock. Guevara kicks Jericho out of the submission holds, only to hit the GTS on Jericho. He hits the shooting star press on Jericho, but only gets a two-count. Castagnoli has Guevara in the giant swing when Jericho hits a leaping Judas effect on Castagnoli. After a second Judas effect on Castagnoli, Jericho gets the pinfall victory.
  5. Saraya def. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D
    Saraya, having her first match in seven years since sustaining a neck injury, made good offense on Baker, but Baker dominated much of the match. Baker goes for the lockjaw, but Saraya counters. Saraya hits a running knee, only getting a two-count, and follows up with a double body drop to get the pinfall.
  6. TNT championship, three-way match:
    Samoa Joe def. Powerhouse Hobbs, Wardlow (ch) (subm.)
    Joe was ROH TV champion at the time. Wardlow immediately goes for his former tagteam partner Joe. Wardlow hits three powerbombs on Hobbs, but as he is about to go for the pinfall, Joe hits Wardlow with the championship belt. Joe locks Hobbs in a sleeper hold, getting the submission victory to become the new champion.
  7. No disqualification:
    Darby Allin & Sting def. Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett [w/Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh]
    Allin climbs a ladder on the rampway and goes for a coffin drop on Lethal, when he is caught by Satnam Singh. Sting locks Jarrett in a scorpion deathlock, when Singh comes in and breaks the hold with a chokeslam. Sting holds Singh when Allin hits Singh with a coffin drop. Sting hits the Scorpion death drop on Lethal, followed by a coffin drop from Allin to get the pinfall victory.
  8. Interim Women's championship:
    Jamie Hayter def. Toni Storm (ch)
    The match quickly turns into a grudge match outside the ring. It eventually returns to the ring, but the slug fest continues. Rebel comes ringside, attacking Storm with the championship belt. Hayter hits a sliding lariat, but only gets a two-count. Rebel is sent back to the locker room, but Britt Baker comes ringside, stomping Storm onto the championship belt. Hayter hits the Storm Zero on Storm, but is unable to get a three-count. Baker removes the top turnbuckle pad. Hayter drives Baker into the exposed turnbuckle and hits the Haytor-ade to get the pinfall victory.
  9. AEW tagteam championship:
    The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) (ch) def. Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland)
    Strickland and Lee double-teams Caster, but is only able to get a two-count. Strickland funds a pair of pliers, attacking Caster outside the rung, when Billy Gunn runs in trying to stop him. Strickland hands Lee the pliers, but Lee throws them away, wanting to win clean. The two men argue in the ring and Lee leaves, allowing Acclaimed to pick up the pinfall fairly simply.
  10. AEW World championship:
    MJF def. Jon Moxley (ch) [w/William Regal]
    MJF had announced in advance that he was cashing in his championship match opportunity from the All Out casino ladder match. MJF hits the tombstone piledriver on Moxley on the ring apron, but Moxley comes back, and piledrives MJF onto a table placed ringside. MJF barely makes it back to the ring before the ten-count. Moxley hits the paradigm shift from the top rope, and MJF only breaks the pin by reaching the ring ropes with his fingertips. The referee gets knocked out, so he is unable to call when MJF taps out from the bulldog choke. Regal throws MJF his brass knucks, allowing him to knock Moxley out. MJF covers Moxley, just in time for the referee to count the pinfall.
