Opera 9 upgrade woes

If you, like me, had problems upgrading to Opera 9 on Windows, there is now a document in Opera's knowledge base describing how to fix the problem, or you could download a new copy which has been updated to correct this problem.
The corrected version for Windows has build number 8502 (use Help → About Opera to see the build number).
