As a complementary addition to yesterday’s instruction for X, I thought I should give a quick description on how to disable anti-aliasing of fonts also in Windows XP. Go to Start → Settings → Control Panel → Display → Appearance → Effects to open the dialogue box depicted below.
There are two different modes for anti-aliasing, but I prefer to disable it completely since there does not seem to be a way to fine-tune it to only apply to certain text sizes, like in X.
