User JavaScript is all the hype these days

Published: 2005-03-26 23:03:13

With the latest release of Opera 8, the power of User JavaScript is unleashed. Unfortunately, for those of us who aren't elite JavaScript hackers it means that we have to watch on the side-lines for all the cool stuff people are adding.

The coolest hacks I've seen so far are support for a whole new homebrew scripting language and enabling Google Suggest's autocompletion feature in all of Google's pages. Of course there is much more you can do if you want to.

Hallvord's journal is packed with information on how to use the stuff, if you're interested that is where you should head.

Myself, I'll just keep watching. One of these days I'll just might convince myself to actually learn JavaScript properly, beyond the simple things I use it for currently, like checking if comment forms in my personal blog are filled out before submitting and stuff.
