mae file file format / Vice xpet

Hi :)

I'm playing again with mae :) (after so many years...)
is there any existing documentation about the file format of the 
assembler files ?
or is there any utilities to convert these files into ascii ?

found 2 small basic program apparently to convert them...
is there any equivalent in C ?

how may I print with vice ?
I tried the classical  open 4, 4 : cmd 4
(I tought it would be directed in a text file...)
