Don't know if this helps, but I've done several schematics with KiCad for
personal projects and had no real problems whatsoever. PCBs still to come. The
two main difficulties for me were habits (being used to another software) and
the libraries as has been mentioned before.

I have some experience with Eagle and more with an older Protel design
software, but I wanted something free. If no one uses the free stuff, there's
no momentum and as a result less progress.
