I also like a simpler site.  Especially since I do more browsing with my 
Amigas than I did 5-10 years ago.

My own site, perhaps 90% of it, was done in the summer of 1995 and bits 
in 1996, and it looks like it.  For awhile I considered updating it 
also, but now consider its dated appearance a kind of charm.  Not to 
mention the fact that it is very quick and easy for me to navigate with 
mobile phones and Amigas! :)

Heck, it's still full of smallish low-res GIFs because, in 95, 
GIF-viewers for the C= 8-bits were being written, and I wanted to 
support them.  Perhaps that, at least, can change at some point.
