They are indeed an intermediate board, before the Rev A of the more common types but after the original (NTSC or PAL with hacks) board. The computers that contain these boards sometimes have square power socket cutouts, but the logos on the case are like the later machines ('commodore 64' and 'POWER') rather than 'commodore' and '64' as on the very earliest machines. As always with Commodore, YMMV ;) One of my sweetest-sounding SID chip / capacitor combinations is on a board like this. It plays Tim Follin's Ghouls'n'Ghosts tracks very nicely!
