Ok, at least VICE shows the 40 column screen in the 8032 model, just does not center it correctly... But it does not crash on scrolling. Maybe the program is written for one editor ROM, you had a different one (there were many variants). Looking at the code it seems that it basically replaces the editor ROM (with reusing parts of the original, thus different editor ROM versions may crash).

And I think I have to correct myself. The CRTC screen model seems to be line-exact, not cycle exact. I tried to provoke two character changes in the same rasterline but VICE only shows one.

Ah, well, one needs to have goals.... :-)
