Long winter’s journey into spring

It feels like the winter
has been going on for quite a long time
this time, but now it is showing signs of reaching its demise.
Whereas we still have sub-zero degrees during the night and the outside of
the door still looks like an ice-skating rink in the morning, most of my
road to the office is now free of ice and snow, meaning that I can now soon
dismount the studded tyres from my bike.
That is a much better indication that spring is arriving than the
daylight savings time
we switched over to a week ago.
