Where did all the links go?

In the early days of blogs, everyone talked about the
a mythical web that bound various blogs together.
All blogs that wanted to be something had to be a part of it, and you were
supposed to have links to similar blogs and hope to get your link posted by
one of them.
Then you got read, and became visible.
Of course I had such a list. Actually, I had such a list until just now, but now I have removed it, since I figured it had not been updated since 2008 and at least half the blogs, probably more, were deserted.
These days it seems that social media and Facebook is where you are supposed to be at. Instead of owning your own scriblings, it should be forced through it. I must admit that I also have fallen for the peer pressure and created an account there myself, where I do write every once and awhile. But never as without prejudice as here, where I had some more control over what happens with what I write.
But the blog list, it is now gone. It is probably also time to remove the other pages I have with links on them, I did a good job at keeping them up-to-date once in the nineties, but the nineties are starting to feel long gone.
