Yesterday’s technology, tomorrow!
Published: Friday 2011-09-30.
It is quite fun when a company takes an existing technology, repackages it
a tiny bit, apply a few hype-words and release it as something completely
new and revolutionising.
Like Amazon’s
new Silk
web browser,
which apparently is the best invention since pre-sliced bread.
The web browsers are apparently going to be rendered on Amazon’s
server, for then to be shown locally on your Kindle.
Doesn’t that sound familiar?

![183 [Comment on Slashdot: You're missing the major difference between what Opera did and what Amazon is doing. Opera did the rendering on their own server, while Amazon does it in the cloud. Totally different]](pics/amazonsilk.png)
