Opera 10.60: First release web browser with WebM support
Published: Thursday 2010-07-01.
Opera 10.60 was released today, and besides being the first final release for Linux and FreeBSD after Opera 10.1x, also is the first final release of a web browser with support for the WebM open video format. Of course the new version contains more new features.
Another new feature is support for geolocation, which works best with wireless networks. Information about nearby wireless networks are compared to a database over known networks at Google, and your position is triangulated from that. The precision is scary when Google has information (scary that a private enterprise such as Google knows that much about me), but there are alternative solutions for those who do not want to use Google’s services.
