They broke Spotify!
Published: Tuesday 2010-05-25.
I have been using Spotify’s free service for a while. Not that much, I use it to play music for me at work when there is nothing interesting on the radio. But now it has stopped working for me, and for everyone else trying to run it from our office:
My profile is set in Norway, and my office is in Norway, but apparently the country detection used by Spotify is flawed, and does not record a country for the IP address that is announced for people running from our Oslo office. So, now I can’t use Spotify anymore. Not without paying, at leat.

To connect to Spotify from work, upgrade to a Premium account to ensure that it can be used form a location flagged as abroad.
Thanks, but no thanks. Spotify is fun, but it’s not worth paying 99 kr a month for, so I am going back to radio. Even when there’s nothing interesting on, it can at least serve as background static. With less ads than Spotify.
