WolfBlog

Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

The 10s

Published: Saturday 2010-01-02.

And so we have left the “noughties”s and entered the 10s. It is a bit weird, it doesn’t feel like very long ago when year 2000 was just around the corner and everyone was afraid of the year 2000 problem, but it is ancient history now. So are the two bubbles that burst, the IT bubble and the finance bubble. And everything else that happened during this decade…

What the tens will bring with them is impossible to know, but it is during this decade that Jenny will be growing up. When the twenties hit us Jenny will be eleven years old, and I guess that she will connect the tens with her childhood. When she grows up, the fashion, music and technologies from the tens will be her “retro”, just as my generation has the 1980s.

No matter what, it is exciting to enter a new decade, even if the transition was during a night like all others (albeit rather cold). On the other hand, so it was when we entered the new millennium. All the excitement is as always in the eye of the beholder.

Jepp.
