Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

A privacy intrusion or just normal?

From March 1st it will be allowed in Norway for employers to read the employees’ e-mail. An intrusion of privacy, some say, about time, according to others. I’m not quite sure what to feel, but I don’t quite feel that I am affected since I am not using my work e-mail address for private message, nor do I use my private address for anything work related. Perhaps it might not feel as natural to discuss union related questions over the work e-mail system, but that is solvable.

Jevnt over synes jeg dette er greit. Folk bør ikke bruke jobb-e-post til privatsaker, og omvendt, så det burde ikke være noe problem, stort sett. Det eineste jeg er litt bekymra for, er det du nevner med fagforeningsspørsmål.

En heil del fagforeninger har kontakt-e-postadresser på domenet til arbeidsgiver, og det burde jo være greit nok -- slike rolleadresse må bli unntatt det vanlige innsynet -- men for organiserte arbeidsfolk vil det jo være naturlig å bruke jobb-e-posten til å kontakte fagforeninga, og slikt bør ikke arbeidsgiver uten videre ha innsyn i.
