United xenophobes of America
Published: Tuesday 2008-06-03.
I visited the USA for a training course last winter, even if I was a bit skeptic about travelling to the country due to the way they treat foreigners. Not only do you get the feeling of almost having performed some kind of unlawful act for wanting to visit the country — I had both my photograph and fingerprints taken and my baggage searched through by security personnel, and now they are even allowed to confiscate and copy the contents of laptops that are brought over the border, without having to be suspected of any kind of crime — from the new-years they are going to require people to register their arrival three days in advance so that they can check up on who comes into the country.
One starts to wonder if they really want the rest of the world to hate them? (Please note that I have nothing against people from the country, I know several, and they are all very nice. It is just its politics that are broken.)
