Time for summer tyres, or summer time for tyres
Published: Friday 2007-03-23.
It is nice to be back with summer tyres on the bike, after having used studded tyres since early November. Admittedly, there hasn’t been much snow in Oslo this winter (I say unfortunately, my girlfriend says thank you), but on icy and slippery winter roads with steep slopes up and downhill, having winter tyres is a clear advantage anyway (or perhaps using a different kind of vehicle).
Now the snow has melted away, the spring is around the corner and the bicycle path that I pass by on my way to work has been swept clean of this winter’s gravel, and with normal summer tyres on the bike I can feel how much easier biking on asphalt is without the studs.
Another sign of the spring is that it is on Sunday that we are switching to summer time (daylight savings time). What I think about that I have written about several times before, so there is no need to repeat myself.
