Okay, now I have tried switching Linux kernel revisions, X versions, graphics cards and hard disks, but the machine keeps hanging at regular intervals. The question is whether it simply is the CPU or some component of the main board that is getting old and tired, it is, after all, five years old now? I do not really feel like buying a new computer at this time, but since this after all is my main workstation and that several things stop up when it is down, perhaps it is time I face the facts and do it?
