Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

The family gathered

Published: Saturday 2006-06-24.

Just like last year my parents have come to visit me over the midsummer weekend, together with my brother who has a long weekend off and took the chance to try out the overnight train from Stockholm (and ended up sharing a sleeping cabin with a snoring travelling salesman with a bladder problem – sounds like much fun). It is very nice to have so many people gathered, and especially fun to have a flat that is big enough to house five people without problems. We are done painting the hallway (in white and “caffe latte”) and could thus welcome the people to a fresh and newly painted entrance (at least on the inside, they are painting the staircases as well).

Since I had to work some overtime this weekend finishing off Opera 9, I had the opportunity of taking the Friday off, which was very nice. Unfortunately the weather was a bit unstable when we walked downtown, but there are buses going all the time so going back was no problem despite the rainfall.

Last time my brother visited me here in Oslo was four years ago, and just like back then the world cup in football was taking place. And just like last time Sweden lost in the finals round when he was here, last time against Senegal, this time against the hosting Germany. So, if anyone is in doubt, it is his fault (not that I care too much, I think it is very good of the Swedish team to have made it this far, and besides we have already won the important championships this year, namely ice hockey both in the olympic games and the world championships).

Now I am looking for a Nintendo DS Lite to replace the one that got lost in the move, they were supposed to be launched in Europe yesterday, but at least the shop I looked in hadn”t received any yet.
