Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

Softwolves 2005 bake-a-thon

Published: Sunday 2005-06-19.

When I was out celebrating 17th of May, Chaals talked about how he liked baking (but was not quite as fond at actually eating what he had baked), which gave me the idea that we should meet up one day and do some collective baking.

So today everyone showed up, I had said that we should get started at around one, so right before two o’clock Monika and Chaals showed up at my place, after Monika had got lost on her bike on the way here (my directions apparently weren’t perfect), where my girlfriend and me were waiting. The only thing I’ve so far have managed to bake is sponge cake (“sockerkaka”) from my mother’s recipe, so that was what I did, and it worked out fairly well (except that it of course got stuck in the baking tin). Thea made yummy apple and chocolate cup cakes, but it was Chaals who really impressed with his baking skills by doing chocolate pudding, honey/saffron quiches and rice pudding. Unfortunately Monika and Chaals had further plans so nothing surfaced of the planned carrot cake (except for a bag of carrots in the fridge, but I will not let them go to waste).

All in all it was a successful day, even if it wasn’t quite the best idea to be indoors baking on a day like today when summer finally has arrived, but still, it was an interesting and different way to meet, and I got to expand my cake supply a bit. Or as Chaals summed it up on the company IRC channel afterwards (I am nafmo):

<chaals> nafmo is going to be a bit larger next time we see him

Förresten, om du tar med dig kakor till jobbet, kommer du att yttra de bevingade orden "Let them eat cake"? :)

Det var ju f-n att den f*te entreprenören från Bromma skulel upptäcka det före mig, trots föraningar.
