Summer is here

Today I have officially inaugurated the summer by doing my traditional summer bike ride, which I try to do as one of the first and one of the last activities of the summer. The ride starts at my flat at Sagene, goes down by the Akerselva river towards the city centre, passes by Aker brygge and the harbour and out to Bygdøy, where I stop by the museums to buy myself a soft ice cream and enjoy the marvellous view of the Oslo fjord. After that I find my way back over Skøyen and Majorstuen and back up to Sagene. A nice little bike ride that takes me somewhat over two hours, and which I try to perform several times each summer. It has be possible to do it while dressed in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt for it to be proper summer. Today it was.
Yesterday night there was a summer party at work, we had a beach party (indoors!) and it was a really good party, even though the rain on and off was pouring down (which catered for quite some movement in and out of the balcony). It was a nice even though some people perhaps regret getting a glass or two too many, myself I didn’t require any ethanolic drinks to dare making a fool of myself by singing karaoke with Singstars on the Playstation.
I didn’t stay too late at the party yesterday, I took the opportunity to leave while the weather was dry around nine in the evening and then I slept rather late today, this has been a rather intense week, so it was nice just to take it easy and to collect my thoughts with today’s bike ride.
Also today, the NRK towel I won on the radio competition on Thursday arrived in the post today. In other words it is soon time for the first swim of the year.
