Eurovision night

And so the big night has arrived, the final in the Eurovision Song Contest takes place tonight with 24 participating countries, of which 10 qualified from the semi-final on Thursday. I like the song contest a lot, both the Swedish and the Eurovision one, it manages to conjure up a lot of interesting music (both good and bad). This year I think the Norwegian glam rock band Wig Wam will do well with their 1980’s rock. Unfortunately I think that Swedish Martin Stenmarck will have to settle for a spot in the lower half of the top list, the song simply isn’t good enough (too bad Nanne Grönvall didn’t win). Another tune that I instinctively liked was Croatia, I liked it so much that I had to look up what the lyrics were about (they are in Croatian). It was about wolves, so it’s not to wonder that I liked it. Gerður has reviewed the start list.
We’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. Anyway I have prepared by buying the official double CD (which I was happy to find was without copy-protection this year, I boycotted last year’s CD due to its copy-protection). A perfect way to get into the right mood for the night, especially since the weather is gray and it’s raining cats and dogs outside.

Det är väl egentligen ganska enkelt, om du skickar en in en låt till melodifestivalen, och blir antagen, så får du se till att inte söka jobb på SVT under sagda tidsperiod...

SVT har redan - innan resultatet av gårdagens final var känt - bjudit in till ny tävling. Först gallras bidragen av representanter från musikförlag, och sedan får SVTs jury välja ut finalbidrag, även bland de ratade bidragen. Så har det tydligen varit förut också, men inte lika uttalat. Jag ser inte riktigt poängen i att först rata och sedan ändå lyssna igenom, eller så kan musikförlagen gradera de ratade bidragen olika hårt och juryn lyssnar på de som nästan godkändes.
Tio platser är reserverade för bidrag med svensk text. Bidrag med text på annat språk än svenska eller engelska ska bifogas svensk översättning. Åldersgränsen 16 år gäller enbart de som uppträder, barn skulle alltså mot förmodan få medverka som upphovsmän. Det finns även en klausul att i ESC gäller EBUs regler, så den artist som medverkar i svenska uttagningen riskerar att inte få representera landet i ESC. Hur mycket skulle det gnabbas i tidningarna om det?
Den som är anställd vid SVT under perioden 1 oktober 2005 - 30 mars 2006 får inte delta. Hur ska man veta det nu, om man skulle råka få en anställning vid SVT runt jul?
