Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

Luxury problem of the day

Published: Friday 2005-05-13.

I was going to send my mobile phone number this morning, and since I have entered quite a lot of information in the business card of my mobile phone, I tried sending it using MMS (if I try sending it using SMS it wants to split it into six parts...). When you have sent messages via MMS, my operator normally sends a receipt. Today, they completely freaked out...

[Message list with a dozen identical receipts] [One of the identical receipts]

I not only got one receipt, I got two, then three, four, five, six... Somewhere around that point I turned off the phone, since the beeping I have set it to emit when receiving MMS messages started to get quite annoying. I tried turning on the phone again an hour or so later, but then several more receipts arrived, so I turned it off again. After that I didn’t dare to turn on the phone until I got back home again after work, at which point the receipts thankfully had stopped arriving.

It has to be because today is Friday the 13th, or something like that, I don’t know. And now I was informed that the recipient is unable to receive MMS messages due to an ancient phone, so it was wasted anyway...

Also note the completely crappy direct translation of Your message was:. A reprimand to Sony Ericsson for that one.

Now I am looking forward to a lazy, long weekend, with both Whit Monday and Whit Tuesday off (Tuesday is the Constitution Day). The only drawback with this many holidays is that all the shops are closed and it wasn’t just me that had the bright idea that Friday afternoon was a perfect time to go shopping for groceries on.
