WolfBlog

Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

Integrating Google Suggest in Opera 8

Published: Saturday 2005-03-26.

An acquaintance, who wishes to remain anonymous, sent me a script that can be used with Opera 8’s new User JavaScript functionality. The script adds support for the Google Suggest auto-completion on all pages under google.com.

To install the script, download googlesuggest.user.js and save it somewhere on your hard disk, preferably in your Opera directory. Then close Opera and open your opera6.ini (see the About Opera document to find the path if you are unsure where it is) and add these lines:

[User Prefs]
User JavaScript=1
User JavaScript File=path to the file

Since it is possible that using this script is in violation of Google’s terms of use I haven’t tested it myself, but according to the contributor it is supposed to be quite cool.

Warning: Remember that User JavaScript files can be used for destructive purposes. Never install a script you are unsure of how it works.

I've added a bug fix now. For those of you who reported problems this version should hopefully work better.
