The thirteenth of December probably is the day of the year when I most miss Swedish traditions. Sure, it is possible to find a Lucia celebration also in this country, but you have to look a bit more, they are not as omnipresent as they are in Sweden. And I wasn’t particularly impressed with the SVT Lucia either, the last few years they seem to have done all they can to find as untraditional celebrations as possible, which is a bit sad for those of us who prefer the more traditional songs.
Okay, so the Swedish Church has four Lucia celebrations tonight, but then you need to buy tickets, and I have of course not been foresighted enough to buy any. Oh well, I can of course always silently hum on the Lucia song and Staffan var en stalledräng this year too.
But then I arrived at worked and found that a collegue had made “lussekatter”. Wonderful! Espen, you have saved Lucia!
