Do not use Internet Explorer
Published: Saturday 2004-06-26.
Yesterday there were reports about how a gang of Russian criminals had broken in to servers using Microsoft’s server software Internet Information Server, where they put up pages that exploited known, but not yet fixed, errors in the Internet Explorer web browser from the same company, to automatically infect visitors with a trojan, just by visiting the web site. This trojan opens up a back door into the victim’s computer, through which credit card information, log-in names and passwords can be stolen. All I can do is to join Arve Bersvendsen in saying that Internet Explorer is a great security threat, and should be avoided if you value your privacy.
That Internet Explorer also is impeding progress by having poor standards support doesn’t help its case.
