WolfBlog

Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

Everything is relative

Published: Wednesday 2004-06-09.

As I have mentioned earlier I receive a lot of junk mail, of which a lot is completely unreadable due it assuming that I am running a graphical e-mail application, interpreting HTML code and showing text in different sizes, fonts and colours, downloading images from external servers and other stupidities (that is, Outlook or Outlook Express). I use the text based e-mail software Pine, which I have set to show the text version of the letters I receive, if there is such a version, plus that I have various filters to remove HTML from the letters.

The letters that my script fail to remove the HTML part of is redirected to a special e-mail folder that I check a few times per week. On my latest check I found this letter:

[“Your mailer do not support HTML messages. Switch to a better mailer.”]

I think my e-mail software is working just fine, considering it elected not to display the junk...

Umm.. jag kan inte minnas att jag sett någon skräppostare som har äkta eller falsk PGP-signatur i sina brev. Är det månne ett sätt att försöka uppvärdera meddelandet så det inte lika lätt klassas som skräp?
