A Christmas party to remember
Published: Saturday 2003-12-06.
Yesterday, as I noted then, the company I work for had a Christmas party. It took place at a place called Skytterkollen in Bærum just west of Oslo. It was very nice, with good food and a nice staff, but what made it really worth remembering was that the power disappeared around 23 due to the heavy wind, and didn’t return until right before 01.
Not that I am complaining, we had candles, and the staff did the best of the situation. Something that was very nice about the power loss was the fact that the obnoxiously loud volume from the band was dampened quite a bit — to a level that made it possible to hold a conversation in the same room without having to shout until your voice breaks down (even though some people did). I usually have to apply ear plugs at this kind of parties, but I didn’t have to do that this time. Wonderful!
And say what you want, a room only lit with candles is cosy... That smoking was prohibited indoors also helped to improve the situation — you were able to talk and breathe. That’s something that is rare at parties!
Today’s chocolate advent calendar figure: Santa Claus.
