Reflections from a Swede in Norway.

Here you will find my small graffiti board where I write about things I come to think about.

In my blog, I write about the general unfairness of life, about spam mail, vintage computers, board games, Norwegians, current and not-so-current affairs, technology and whatever else occurs to me — in other words, a glorious mess. All opinion expressed here are of course my own, and all similarities with any living people is of course intentional.

Royal Family - the reality series

Published: Wednesday 2003-12-03.

The reality series known as The Royal Family continues... Crown prince Haakon can’t claim paternity leave in January, according to a literal interpretation of the constitution of Norway. Now he says that he is not going to try, which is a bit of a shame, it would have been interesting to see what would happen, as this situation haven’t occurred before. The most natural thing would have been if his big sister, princess Märtha, who is number two in the succession, would take his place at that time, but again, according to the constitution, she isn’t eligible.

But it is of course that at the time the constitution was written, no-one had ever heard of “paternity leave”, so it is not a big surprise that the laws aren’t covering this situation.

Peter svarar: Oh, ja, 100% skatt på all inkomst från ideellt arbete! Det måste vi se till att kräva! ☺
