I promised to help reinstall an old laptop from 2006 that have started to
get extremely slow (Windows has a way of getting so after a couple of
years).
The computer came with Windows XP, so I thought I should try reinstalling
that system on it.
The original CD that came with the computer has of course got lost, so I go
to the manufacturer’s home page to try downloading drivers.
Unexpectedly, there are no references whatsoever to the model number
anywhere.
It seems as they have completely disowned the computer.
Time to start searching for drivers on my own, then.
Always fun, that, one would have thought that they would at least have kept
a page describing what the computer contains?
But alas, there is not even that.
Perhaps I should just install Debian on the box instead?
I wonder if its owner would see any difference?
All she does it to click the red O to read a couple of web pages
anyway…
